Blurb: Charles Darwin Millsworth, Chaz to one and all since infancy, has no wish to live up to the grandeur of his name. Fortunately, his Southern belle mama isn’t at all inclined to push her son into a career that won’t make him happy. She thinks he needs to loosen up and enjoy life. After all, that’s the whole point of being independently wealthy, isn’t it?

Chaz can see her point, but his father died in his forties as did his father before him. As far as Chaz is concerned, he has limited time on this earth to make his dreams come true. And he refuses to leave anyone weeping over a wasted life.

Sprocket Moretti is a simple guy. He loves his job, enjoys college, lives in his beloved childhood home—why worry about the little things when the big stuff looks so good. Unfortunately, one of the little things he tries not to stress over is a broken friendship with a very hot and bewildering sous chef. They were pals, hung out and had fun. But one night they stepped over that invisible line, and the next morning Chaz kicked Sprocket out of his bed and his life.

Now, no matter how much Sprocket tries to charm Chaz, the guy has no desire to return to their pre-sex playful bantering ways. And if Sprocket stays true to his motto, this little thing—Chaz—should be written off and never worried about again.

If Sprocket had known one night of reality-altering orgasms would endanger their easygoing friendship… How do you finish that sentence when all your mind wants is its friend back and all your body wants is another taste?

Review: Heart on the Run is a very fun romance. I love Lee Brazil and Haven Fellows. Though most of their stories are short, I liked that this was longer. There are a lot of awesome characters in this story, and the setting is a big part of the story as well. I loved the quaint town and how everyone knows everyone. I wish these towns existed.

This is book two in Hearts of Parkerburg. It stands alone fine as the people in town are what the series is about. If you read the first book, you will know the other characters and stuff mentioned and its good as well.

Back to this one. I adored Chaz. He is sweet and has a goal for his life. Even though he is from a wealthy family and doesn’t have to work, he went to culinary school, and his dream is to have a restaurant of his home someday. He often thought about what his mom might say in many circumstances, and this was in italics, so it was clear it was thought, but I am not sure how I felt about it.

It wasn’t confusing the story or anything it was just that some of them were a bit odd for me. That’s a personal opinion. I will admit some did make me laugh.

Sprocket was a fun character. His description showed us how fun he would be. I did feel sorry for him and liked how he tried so hard to still be friends with Chaz after Chaz’s first run. Then there is Mason. I adored Mason. He is so funny, and I liked how he was so protective of Sprocket and there seemed to be more there at least on his side. (Hope the next book is his.)

The story is fast paced, and I didn’t want to put it down. It is heartwarming, fun and I was shocked by a couple twists. I will admit I thought it a predictable romance and was in for a big surprise! I can’t say more without a spoiler. I will say this is an excellent romance and fun book and a great holiday or anytime read!

If you like sexy tattooed men, hot chefs, best friends, hot romances with a twist, a holiday story and an allover fantastic read, this is for you! *points to buy links*

Review: Meg is a new author for me so I was a bit leery of reading this story. Now I usually have trouble following Hawaiian themes but this one was a pretty damn good story. I loved the unique feel to the story, and the way she did the background was damn good. The story has a magical tilt to it that was fascinating. Almost made me actually want to go. But, since I don’t fly I guess I will just lose myself into this story once more.

What caught my attention was the cover and how it came out perfectly. Also the guy and his necklace were pretty damn hot. Then I looked at the title and the blurb so I was a bit skittish of reading a story with such different backgrounds. However the author managed the perfect balance of heart, soul, feelings and heat.

Matt is a painter and he feels like he is lost his way. He is fed up with one night stands and he needs a change. So when his sister needs him to run to Hawaii he jumps at it. When he meets Beau things are about to change. Beau is one sexy pilot and the attraction is strong.

Although I thought the premonition Beau’s mother gave him makes it seem like it is headed in a different direction, especially since she is dead. However that is not the way it is. Kind of like when you go to a family members grave and talk to them. I have to say that I am not the same way, because I figure once dead you’re dead. It worked for this story though.

Most people I know run from commitment and that was what Matt had done in the past, but this time he moves forward. It shows what happens in many families and how they start to heal from it all. How they fall in love. I actually found myself intrigued with this story and the magical tone it has to it. It was very cute and the author pulled it off pretty good.

What’s more is neither of the guys is young and have found love for the first time. It also gives you guys that are fully detailed with such fascinating ethnic backgrounds that will captivate you and have you wishing you were the one they were with.

The only problem I found was some of the words were a bit stiff or way to formal for me to get into all the way. However that might just be the cultural differences that is between people.

I truly enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it.

Review: Each book in the Whitedell Pride collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Jayden had found his mate a few nights ago and had never told anyone. He would sneak out to see his bear. He didn’t know the reason his mate couldn’t change but he wanted to be near him. That is until Shad tried to sneak out himself, and Jayden feared for everyone’s safety.

Heath had no knowledge of who he was, where he was from or how long he had been in bear form. He feared the answers, but he knew he wanted his mate. There were many questions unanswered but they both wanted each other.

Then there is also Jayden’s little brother needing to be rescued and the hunters were back to their old tricks. The pride was in danger and they needed to watch out.

I love the way this author can put together a book that not only fascinates you but draws you in. I had a blast reading this and look forward to reading more by Catherine. The characters are beautifully written with big hearts, however if you cross them, they have no problem putting you down. To me there is nothing better than a good romance, but when it is a paranormal then it hits higher marks to me.

I would definitely recommend reading this book.

Review: Diana always gives you a love story that always intrigues you and keeps you captivated. Her stories have a serious tone to them but there is a hint of humor that makes it a lot more fun for me to love. I have read a few stories by Diana and have put her on my automatic buy list. So when I got this story I was a bit disappointed with it.

Jayden was expected at his sister’s wedding, but he was not going alone. He hired Nash to pretend to be his man. He didn’t want women to come up to him thinking he was available. Although he had not expected the heat that he felt with Nash.

This story is a spinoff of the Arbor Heights series, so I was expecting a bit more to it. The plot is well written and enjoyable. I loved the characters but not the fake boyfriend part. It shows the homophobia up front. Although his family is good with it all. It shows how they meet, but to get the full taste of them you have to read the next book. Which for me is a great welcoming because I can’t stand not having a happily ever after.

Now other than certain aspects of the story that I didn’t much care for, this was an enjoyable read. I can’t wait to read the second book, and I can guarantee as soon as I finish writing this I will be starting on the next book.

I enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it.

Review: There are some stories that call to you and some stories that just make you want to run away. For me this story was a mixture of it all. I can’t stand religion added into my love stories. I want hot sex, tender scenes, lots of passion and fire. However this one is based on a new love between two teenage boys so you don’t really get any of that, because it isn’t proper for young boys to have that type of relationship it would seem. This story has a historical theme to it that doesn’t really make it jump out at me also.

However these two boys do pull at your heart strings quite a bit. It also shows what gay youth went through back then. The dangers that they were in if one found out. It has a lot of suspenseful moments, angst, pain and some heart ache, plus it also shows that these two had more support than even they thought. I could not get into this story like I should have but it was an enjoyable story.

Now this author was new to me so I wasn’t really sure what to expect M. LeAnne Phoenix is a new author for me so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I will be the first one to admit that new authors make me leery. I hate not knowing what I am going to get from them. Which is funny, since I love surprises. The characters are fully developed and beautifully written. I enjoyed them quite a bit although I do wish that there were no religious elements added to it. Those made the story go down for me.

David and Jonathan have been best friends for quite some time, however the moment he sees Jonathan being kissed by a girl he loses it. It pushes him to another level with his friend. Things heat up between them, but they have nowhere to turn. It is a time where being gay is not good. David comes off as feminine and most think he is weak and many can’t stand to be around him. Jonathan feels strongly for David and there is so much heat between them that you can’t help but fall in love with them.

The story came off a bit slow to me, so my attention was not caught like it should have been. However with the religious tone, I am afraid my attention was not as captivated as it should have been. It is a well written story and the guys are the best. You can feel the love between the author and her characters.

As I have said before it is a well written book that will captivate your heart with the first page. I enjoyed parts of it however I am afraid the story was not for me. I do look forward to seeing what other stories this author has out.

Their love was a death sentence.

Deacon, Viscount Carlisle, was aware of the slums and gin-lanes of London. Just as he was aware of the underground traffic that furnished the brothels and bath houses with human innocents. He was also aware that the so-called justice system would hang the accused without much of an attempt at a defense, unless the unfortunate had deep pockets to pay for it.

He just hadn’t expected to be directly involved in any of it.
It started with a plea for help and ended with forbidden love, the love between a Viscount and a stable-boy. An impossible love and a guarantee of the hangman’s noose.

Will Deacon fight for Tom? Will he risk the death sentence and take that fight from the stately halls of his English mansion to the horrors of Newgate Prison and the slums of London?

Or will he realize that if he doesn’t, death will be a welcome end to the loneliness of the sentence he is already living?

Review: I am not really sure what to say about this story. I never read nor review historical novels. They always seem to lack something to me. Maybe it is because I am more the modern computer type person with a little paranormal added in me. However Victoria always manages to capture the attention of her readers and leave them with more feelings than they started out with.

It shows many things in this story that will show you just how we have changed. The guys go through so much more with their sexuality then they do these days. In the time where there is so much poverty that you never have enough food on your plate to getting killed for loving another man. It just makes me sick.

Deacon has always done what he could to stay safe, following the rules but his best friend doesn’t. He will do everything to help his friends, that is for sure. Beau somehow gets his ass in trouble, so Deacon needs to find a way to get him rescued from an underground auction. He ends up purchasing a young boy. He helps him by sending him to his family.

Five years later he goes to his family home to deal with his father’s death. Only to find out that the young boy he sent there is now a man. A man who calls to him in more ways than one. Now I was not happy with what happened with Beau so it made the story a bit harder to read. I don’t like stories that have a sadness to them.

An although the author gives you a story with a great plot, she makes her characters fully developed with a lot of attraction to them.

I can say that this story was amazing, but it was not for me. I have come to the conclusion that I still don’t much care for historical stories. It was well researched from what I can tell and shows the dangers of what happens to those who are gay. It was well written and will grab your attention from the start. That is, if you are into historicals.

I look forward, however, to reading more by this author.

Reviewer: Lisa

Review: Sergio is one hell of an Alpha and comes off tough as nails. He needed to strengthen the pack which means he was going to have to marry a she-wolf. The only problem is he was gay and the Alpha of the other pack was an ass. He didn’t want to marry Diana, but needed to.

Then he found his mate was none other than Diana’s brother. Ron was an Omega and could give Sergio what he needed. The thing was he was the one the pack tore apart and messed with. If Sergio takes Ron as his mate, the other pack could go after them. However it seems they have a little help inside the pack that wants something new.

Now this one was a lot better than the first two books. I also love the idea of a mate giving birth, not just any mate but a male Omega mate. That made this story rock even more.

It still needs a little bit more to make it perfect, however I had fun with this story. I hope that there is another book after this because it is getting pretty good.

I would definitely recommend this story.

Hades

(Monsters and Gods 02)

Wulf Francu Godgluck

******WARNING*******
This is not a story about a hero, or some bad boy-badass-antihero.
This is a love story between two monstrous villains and one valiant kid, held together by their entwined heartstrings.
It won’t be pretty.
It won’t be pleasant.
There’s no fluffy good feelings about it.
It will rip out your heart and never give it back.
Breno Hades el Oscuro took no bullshit from anyone. He ruled the crime world of the United States. When the King fell, what was left in the ashes was not the small boy that grew up without his father, not the same kid that chose a life of crime at seventeen, nor was it the King who had killed and clawed through a river of blood to stand at the top.
The King was dragged from his throne of bones into a deep dark pit, leaving only the raw flesh of a savage monster to crawl out of Hell.
One that knew love, but didn’t want it again.
Kemono Orochi was destined to inherit the legacy of his father, known as The Dragon’s Tongue. It was an inheritance he never wanted it, never desiring the power that came with the title of Dragon. Kemono ended it all by tearing off the Dragon’s head, watching the serpent’s remains be consumed in hellfire. Now tormented by the scars of his past inflicted by his father, he is struggling to come to terms with the Akuma he has become.
One that wants to devour everyone in his path to protect the only one that matters to him.
The only person that had ever made his icy heart beat.
His heart. His love. His beautiful pride.
Rex Hunter dreams of becoming a principal ballerino…all fierce, like a Phoenix. But this Phoenix has lost his wings and fallen prey, straight into the clutched claws and callus hands of two vicious beasts. Each bore the blackest of hearts, each desiring to keep him safe, cherished and loved unconditionally. Or was Rex just destined to be the goo that would stick two shattered souls together and prevent them from forever falling to pieces?
There will be blood, gore and nasty shit.
There will be watersports, crude, angry, sometimes sensual and other times just downright dirty and dysfunctional sex.
BUT…
There will always be LOVE…
Because even villains understand the tortured scars love leaves in her wake.

Blurb: I thought life after high school would be easier. I’d go to California Pacific for a year while I got a handle on my HIV, then after Michael graduated from high school, we’d blast out of here for colleges—and life—on the East Coast. Then I visited Boston and everything changed. I realized I like CalPac. Turns out, Boston didn’t have anything for me beyond one of the biggest regattas in North America.

Life grew more complicated when I got home. I couldn’t find a way to tell Michael that I’d just blown our plan for our lives out of the water. Then my CalPac coaches dropped a bomb on me. Those rowing officials who’d been watching me? They were recruiters for the national team, and my coaches wanted me to try out. They’d even let Lodestone coach me. Now I have to choose, school or crew, CalPac or Michael, and I still haven’t told Michael I can’t transfer.

Is there even a place for Michael in my life? Somehow we have to withstand training at the highest levels and having different goals.

Review: All that is Solid and Melts into Air is the second book to Christopher Koehler’s The Lives of Remy and Michael Series.

I absolutely loved the first instalment and stepping back and looking at the big picture, this really is the perfect sequel, although as I will outline, it is not without a few flaws. This is an intensely realistic view of a young guy who is just starting college, has a boyfriend still in high school and is looking forward to the future with stars in his eyes, despite having his own fair share of personal troubles and upheavals.

If you haven’t read book 1, Poz, go back and read it. It is essential to understanding the overall plotline of the series.

I’m going to recap the characters using what I wrote in my review of the first book. Quite honestly, since this is a story that is directly continued from the first, the same information is still very relevant to the lives of the main characters.

Remy, real name Jeremy (aka Germy to his brother), has a twin brother, Geoff (aka Goff) along with his mother and father, who is also a psychotherapist. The psychotherapist part is important in terms of Remy’s father because he is so oblivious when it comes to one of his sons (Remy) but more attentive when it comes to the other (Geoff)

. It just shows that Remy comes from a normal, ever so slightly dysfunctional family where parents aren’t some sort of oracle that knows everything. Remy isn’t a jock but he is a champion rower and that being said he is being scouted for college and championship teams. He is gay but no longer in the closet. Book 1 saw Remy deal with contracting HIV, and in this story we continue on to see how he is getting along in terms of therapy, relationships and continuing his rowing career.

Remy’s boyfriend is Michael. He’s still in high school but the two guys have plans together. They are very sweet together – but I don’t want to go into their relationship too much more and spoil the book. Other important and interesting characters include Remy’s team mates, including Robbie and Kevin.

Then there are the coaches, Lodestone and Pendergast. We have something of a villain in Remy’s roommate Brady, who I would have liked a bit more from.

Remy is still the narrator the story. Once again, though, I would have liked to know more POVs from other characters but honestly the style of story teller suits this story really well and makes it feel more humanised rather than just reading about a young gay sportsman.

However, in saying that, this book is a lot of telling by Remy. There is not really a heck of a lot of dialogue and that meant that there were times that the story did drag a lot. I found it particularly slow going for the first third of the book. This is the only reason why I’ve given the book 4/5.

If you read the blurb and it has drawn you in – that’s great because this book does not come with any plot lines that come out of nowhere. This is a very real story of a teen navigating his world through life. It is realistic and sometimes a difficult read but enjoyable from start to finish.

One thing that I like to end on is the title – All that is Solid Melts into Air. I love it; it is rather philosophical and absolutely perfect for the feel of the entire book. It also reminds me of a line from the Japanese anime Fruits Basket: “When the snow melts, what does it become?” The answer is “spring, of course”.

But when all is said and done, I do wonder if Christopher Koehler has anything else in mind for world of the CalPac rowers.

ofgodsandmonstershadesTitle: Of Gods and Monsters: Hades
Series: Of Gods and Monsters, #2
Author: Wulf Francu Godgluck
Genre: Contemporary
Length: Novel (307 pages)
Publisher: Wulf Francu Godgluck (January 22, 2016)
Heat Level: Moderate
Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥4 ½ Hearts
Blurb: ******WARNING*******
This is not a story about a hero, or some bad boy-badass-antihero.
This is a love story between two monstrous villains and one valiant kid, held together by their entwined heartstrings.
It won’t be pretty.
It won’t be pleasant.
There’s no fluffy good feelings about it.
It will rip out your heart and never give it back.

Breno Hades el Oscuro took no bullshit from anyone. He ruled the crime world of the United States. When the King fell, what was left in the ashes was not the small boy who grew up without his father, not the same kid that chose a life of crime at seventeen, nor was it the King who had killed and clawed through a river of blood to stand at the top.

Reviewer: Shorty

Review: This is the second book in Of Gods and Monsters. Before I start I will say I did not read the first book so at times I was confused. But I will read it. This book is not a romantic book. It’s raw, gritty, intense and powerful. Hades was bad ass to the core. But then again he had to be given the circumstances.

This story has its brutal moments with Hades in prison and jacked up on steroids, forced to fight to the death until he gets out and meets sweet Rex. After having lost his love to another man, Hades had sworn off giving his heart to another. He of course fights his feelings for Rex.

Their relationship I would describe as explosive as it had its tender moments which were rare to intense. There is so much going on from them meeting to the Russian drug cartel taking out all others in their wake to corrupt cops turning their heads.

One of the things I liked best about this book was how you could feel what the characters felt from their love to their hate. Though some scenes in the book had me cringing it was still a fantastic story that had me riveted and wanting to know more the further I read.

Josh isn’t willing to sell. Not yet. Since Joey’s father’s tragic death left Joey the family’s debt-ridden pub, Joey has struggled, desperate to turn the business around and give his mum the life she deserves. A break away from the pressures of running the pub is just what he needs, and a hook-up with Adam is the perfect way to forget about his troubles.

Successful engineering executive, Jack Rothman thought he was finally free to be the Dom he was meant to become. His submissives, Rory Campbell and Spencer Hartley are soon to be married, and his place as their Dominant is unshakeable. Then Jack loses the one thing a Dom requires…control over his life.

If she wants the happily-ever-after wedding she’s always dreamed of, she’ll have to learn to fight for it on her own.

Rock N Soul

I’m Tyler Lindsey, and until recently, I had an okay apartment, an okay girlfriend, and an okay job as a bellboy at a respectable Boston hotel. Then rock star Chris Raiden died right before I brought his room service—stiffing me on the tip, by the way—and my life went to hell. My fifteen minutes of fame was more like five seconds, and my girlfriend left me in disgust.

But even worse—Chris is haunting me. Not the room where he died, like a normal ghost. No, somehow he’s stuck to me and is insisting on taking care of a bunch of unfinished business in California. So now I have to traipse across the country with the world’s most narcissistic ghost.

But . . . I keep having these weird thoughts. Thoughts about how much I like the way he makes me laugh. Thoughts where I kind of want to kiss the emo-narcissist, even though he’s a ghost and an asshole and I can’t touch him anyway. And even if I could, what will happen when he finishes his business and nothing’s keeping him here anymore?

Money can’t buy happiness. Jacob Nussbaum knows this better than anyone. He’s a corporate lawyer deep inside a huge New York firm, where he works overtime, sacrifices any chance at a personal life, and has been selling his soul for years. In search of the truth, Jacob travels to a small northern Wisconsin fishing resort. There he meets Ben Anderson, a brutally lonely man, who knocks him off his feet. Ben prompts Jacob to reevaluate his life. He’s a dozen years older than Jacob, still recovering from the death of his long time love, and doesn’t want to leave anyone a widower. But a jaded New Yorker on a soul-searching mission might be just the man to convince the grieving Ben that it’s never too late to begin again.
