Review:  Each book in the Werewolves of Manhattan collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

I have come across a few stories in which it is imperative that one reads the previous stories in a series, otherwise it can be a bit confusing.  It has been some time since I have read a book in this series, so I had to do a little catching up.  It is a very entertaining story, but the omegas are the true characters in this story.

Henri is the last of the alphas in their group to find his mate; he just had not expected him to show up at one of the other’s weddings.  Vitas is in need of care, and Henri will do everything to keep him safe.

Vitas had been held hostage by the alpha in Russia, along with his parents.  They had tried to protect him and get him to America, but it was all in vain.  Now they had been killed in front of him, and he was tortured every day.  He was an omega wolf, but his body thought he was now human.  Chernof’s own people decided to help him get out, but he had not expected to find his mate.  He wished for it and even dreamed about it, but never expected it.  His gift is a very strong one that anyone would want to use.  His mate must protect him at all cost.

This is a very entertaining story that will keep your attention from the moment you start reading.  There are a few little errors that I found but that is about all.  It just needed a better proof reader to find it.  I got a kick out of it, and will say that the alpha’s mates are a kicker.  I think they make the story just a bit more fun.  It has a serious tone to it, but there is quite a bit of humor that mixes just perfect for the story to rock.

I can’t wait to start reading the next story.  This is one series that I would definitely recommend.

Blurb: When something is perfect, it sets itself up to be destroyed, and for everything gained, something is lost.

Since Dryden was young, his mother taught him about balance. While she weaves jewelry to sell at the marketplace, Dryden learns how every unspoiled gem begs to be damaged, just like the universe corrects every misfortune.

But with age and experience, Dryden begins to see the cracks in his mother’s naïve view of life. If she is wrong about balance, she might be wrong about the supposed beast in the woods. Dryden ventures into the forbidden, where a handsome hunter named Otto saves him from a deranged fox and seduces him. But like so much else, Otto has an unseen side, and if Dryden wants to regain his freedom and break Otto’s spell, he’ll have to answer three riddles in three days.

With the help of his mother’s stories and the fox who once threatened him, Dryden must beat the monster and restore balance to his world. But it will come at a cost.

Review: This is a thoroughly enjoyable book. It isn’t so much as long or intense read but I did find the writing and descriptions a bit of a hindrance at times, though I suspect that is because I got a short attention span.

The story follows Dryden, whose mother has taught him something that is along the lines of “every action has an equal and opposite reaction” – that’s Newton’s Third Law but it generally applies to karma, too, I suppose. Now grown up, Dryden goes on an adventure which starts with him going into a forbidden forest (that’s always a sign of doom). Dryden is very naive when it comes to being saved and later getting to know the mysterious Otto. Sometimes it felt like that Otto wasn’t really the face of evil (which is the kind of role he has in this book) but more that he was experienced, knew what he wanted and more than aware of the harsh realities of life. Then there is the fox shifter, Eammon, I don’t want to go too much into his character because I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but he is the kind of personality that I hoped that Dryden would become. I found him the most relatable character.

One thing I really loved about this was the fairy tale aspect. Francis Gideon has gone to great lengths to deliver a traditionally structured fairy tale and all the elements are there. There are great life lessons, a few morals and moral dilemmas thrown in, as well as the usual good overcoming evil and whatnot.

This is more of a young adult coming to age type of adventure more than a romance but the romance that was there felt so natural with the evolution of the story. Very sweet and sexy. It was also a bit angst-y at times, which is something that I don’t always connect with as a reader.

Review: I really enjoyed this story about two guys who come to Myrtle Beach for different reasons yet are attracted to one another once they meet. That is put on hold when Vic, a cop, gets a call about a murder. Wanting to find out who the killer is sets him on a path closer to Simon, a man who has the ability to talk to ghosts.

Wanting to help with the case Simon turns t his contacts and ghosts. At the same time Vic is doing all he can to find the person responsible before anyone else gets killed. Wonderful story with the perfect balance of romance, mystery and suspense. the investigation was really good. I loved all the details within it that came out.

The chemistry between Simon and Vic was hot when they actually had the time for each other in between solving the case. Entertaining and addictive this story has it all.

Fantastic read.

Review:  I have enjoyed reading many stories both m/f and m/m over the years, but the moment I read a m/m romance I decided that I liked those best.  However I found myself more aligned with books that were written by females more than males.  Although I must admit that there are a few that surprise me.  Dirk Greyson was one of those authors.  This was the first book that I have read by him, and let me tell you that he has probably became one of my favorites just after reading this.

Now if you are anything like me you are more likely to read paranormals then contemporaries.  There is just something about the worlds that are created with these types of stories.  Dirk has managed to give us a unique story that I haven’t really heard in a long time.  They are fully developed and the characters are just about perfect.  I do have to admit that the cover of the book was just a bit creepy, but once I started reading the story I came to an understanding with it.  There is so much energy in this story and you can feel the heat, emotions, and action and so forth with this book.

Mikael has known since he was a small boy that his mate was going to be a man.  He had been visited by the mother and gifted from that time on.  There was a story passed on about dark wolves that were evil then others.  He just thought it was a story, until he was forced to watch a fight between alphas, a fight to the death.  He watched that dark wolf tear a man apart.  A man who had left behind a mate and two small children.  The fear of what was to come led him to contact another pack to help each other in the upcoming times.  To his surprise the alpha of the other pack just so happened to be his fated mate.

Denton was a strong alpha but he knew he was not supposed to be.  He had gotten the title after he took out his old alpha who was leading the pack the wrong way.  Now here in front of him stood his fated mate, a mate he wanted but wasn’t sure what to do.  However if you really want to know what happens, you must read this story.

I loved the characters and the way the story just seemed to flow off the pages.  It was an enjoyable read and I can’t wait to get started on the next book.  This is one author who now has a new follower.

I would definitely recommend this story.

Blurb: Tyger tyger, burning bright…

As theriomorphs in the service of Gaia, Tyr Gustavson and his lover Aaron fought against the vampires aiding the Third Reich during WWII. But even the fierceness of Tyr’s tiger form couldn’t save Aaron from being torn apart when a mission went horribly wrong. Lost in his pain, Tyr remained feral until he was unwillingly recalled to Gaia’s service seventy years later.

In the forests of the night…

When fighter pilot Adam Carson’s plane was shot down, he thought the worst that could happen was being sent to a Nazi prison camp. Little did he know there were other monsters in the shadows, and one of them wanted to claim him. But refusing Elizabeth Bathory had a price. Adam was turned against his will and trapped in a coffin as punishment for his resistance.

What immortal hand or eye…

While hunting ghouls, Tyr and his colleagues discover Adam’s prison. Believing he could be an asset, Marielle Du Lac frees him. Adam joins the team and is drawn to Tyr, despite Tyr’s hatred of vampires. When Tyr rejects Adam out of fear, Adam accepts a suicidal mission to find Thrace, the original nosferatu. Review: Adam Carson is taken prisoner after his pane is shot down. Only to be taken to Elizabeth during a transport where he’s turned. After the turnng he’s put in a coffin where he stays for a long time. Tyr has been feral and grieving since losing his other half. Now many years later he’s approached with a task to locate Elizabeth.

I loved Adam and Tyr. Tyr grief stricken even now and Adam who finds himself drawn to Tyr. But this story is not all romance and flowers. There is still the ongoing hunt to find Elizabeth and do away with her. Suspenseful and mysterious this story takes you on an adventure where all is not as it seems. The characters are intriguing and fascinating.

Even though some are highly questionable in their actions they all added that special element to bring the story into the light. I truly enjoyed this story and looking forward to reading more.

Great read.

Incubus Honeymoon

(Arcana Imperii 01)
by

August Li

As the so-called magical creatures go, I’m low on the hierarchy, and my powers aren’t much good to human mages. I’m a lover, not a fighter, through and through. I’m also selfish, lazy, and easily bored. But I’m damned good at what I do.

Too bad that won’t get my arse out of this sling.

Do one—granted, uncharacteristic—good deed, and now I’m held hostage to an arrogant faerie prince, trying to track down the one who summoned him, while dodging gangbangers, gun runners, and Nazis. Add the powerful mage guilds scrambling to gather firepower for some doomsday event they’re sure is around the corner, and my cushy life of leisure might be nothing but a memory. On top of that, something’s compelling me to change on my most fundamental level. I’m not sure what I’ve got myself mixed up in, but nothing will ever be the same.
Bloody hell.

Featuring a new twist on urban fantasy combined with fast-paced action and intrigue, the Arcana Imperii series books are standalone adventures, each completely accessible to new readers.

Review:  I never thought that I would be a fan of this type of book but then again in this story they really are not what one would expected.  They are infected and changed, even those who are born infected such as our sexy private detective.  He is different from all the others.

I was impressed with the fact that it was one of those stories that you just couldn’t put down till you finished the story. Although I have to say that the first part dragged on for way to long.  I think if it didn’t have all the added stuff to it; it would have gone way above what it ended up being for me.

I love the fact that it doesn’t follow the normal stereotype of paranormal.  In this story it means that a shifter can turn into their big cat just like a werewolf does, during the cycle of the moon.  It can be spread just like sexual diseases, through blood and semen so it is easy to become infected.  Just like many infections you could change or you could die.  It really just depends on how strong you are, and if you are younger then you have more of a chance to survive.  I love the world this author created for her readers and damn the guys are hot.

Roan is an ex-cop now private detective who tries to solve the crimes involving other infected.  He was born an infected and changed into a big ass lion. Roan is so different from the others; in the fact that he is not ill nor is he disfigured like so many others.  He is a bit snarky and can be a pain in the ass, where as the man he has fallen in love with is the opposite of him.

Paris is a tiger shifter and he is a people person.  It is what got him infected in the first place.  He is gorgeous and a bit stuck into himself or should I say vain.  Now while we have the two love birds, we also get several different mysteries going on.  From missing people to find to a very crazy group of religious nuts jobs, a cat that is on the loose and needs to be put down in my mind, to a group that hates those infected and lots of trouble in between.

Now like I said this story starts off very slow and almost cause me to put the book down with disinterest, it slowly built into a pretty awesome story.  I wasn’t too sure about the fact that the author put so much into this story but it turned out that it worked.  The complexity of the characters and what was going on kept my attention longer than I thought it would.  I loved the little twists that I found in it also.

I loved the romance our two sexy guys have going on and can’t wait to hear more about them in the future. I didn’t much care for the clichés that were in this story, nor the gay remarks that were throughout it but what can I say there is always something that you will find in all stories that you won’t much like.  It doesn’t take away from the book at all though, so it was all good.  I enjoyed reading it, but can admit that it won’t be one of those series that I read back to back.  I also can’t see myself reading it more than once, but it is very interesting.  It is just way too long for me to want to even read it twice, once is good enough for me.

Other than my little issues, this is one story that I would definitely recommend.

Review: I really wanted to love this story by the time I finished it. I mean there’s romance?, suspense, murder a whole cast of characters that added depth to the story. However, it Haru’s attitude toward Tally that made me take a step back. I know it’s an arranged marriage but if Haru didn’t want it why didn’t he say anything before the wedding? Instead all he does is complain and basically put Tally down after the wedding night. That really made me angry on Tally’s behalf.

I loved the culture throughout the story. It was fascinating to read about the traditions. Tally was sweet and caring and I so wanted him to be happy. Aside from Haru’s attitude problem I really enjoyed everything else about the book.

I was happy to follow Tally around as he traversed through a world where his mate doesn’t want him at first only to be confounded when murder enters the picture. I felt really bad for Tally in the situation he found himself in.

All the different characters were exciting to read about and what role they each played to bring this story to life.

Great read.

Review: Cillian sees peoples fates. I really felt bad for him as I cannot imagine how much pain and stress that would put someone in. It seems like a terrifying ability to have. Cillian has a habit of getting into sticky situations because of what he can do.
As a result his past comes back to haunt him in the form of someone he thought was dead. I have to admit Sören’s character confused me greatly. It was hard for me to understand how something could possess someone yet at the same time let that person live their live freely.
It was strange yet fascinating reading about Sören and the being with him. I personally cannot imagine having to live that way day to day myself. But I did enjoy the story.

Review: To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Finally after Dex’s antics and Sloan being a grumpy pants, we get to Calvin and Hobbs. These two have been best friends since they were little and that was never going to change. The only change is Calvin’s feelings for his best friend. He was in love and wanted more. However Hobb’s had so much trouble communicating with others, that he feared change. The big tiger could handle a building blowing up around him, but the moment his best friend kisses him he runs and hides. That is until Hobbs realizes he might just loose the man he loves.

It only took six books to get to these two facing their issues. You can feel the heat from these guys from book one and I am glad to see Hobbs stepping out of his comfort zone. At the same time they have a nasty case to deal with, Sparks training sessions are heating up and someone is trying to kill the. Should I add some one is trying to kill them AGAIN.

Now back to our other sexy couples, damn they are getting all lovey dovey. Ash has definitely surprised me, he is definitely no longer in the closet. Our sexy narrator has given us some amazing voices to listen to. I swear I could listen to that man all day long. He brings our characters to life and damn can he do so many different tones. I think I have listened to this book several times before remembering to do this review.

Now full warning there is a cliff hanger at the end that will have your mouth dropping opened. Even though Dex will always be my favorite, I have a special place inside for Hobbs. He has had such a difficult time with others that he pulls you in no matter what. He protects Calvin physically, where as Calvin protects him emotionally. These two just rock for me.

Charlie Cochet has became a favorite author of mine from the very first book. In fact I hate to admit that I did the audio’s before I even picked up one of her books. I love listening to our guys fight, argue, sigh if they want to and just be a lot of fun together. Who knew Dex could sing so good. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book, it is going to be a kicker. This is one series that if I could give it a ten heart rating I would.

I would definitely recommend it.

Review: After witnessing the death of hismother Niel is on the run. He has no clue who he can trust but when Mal is thrust into the picture he feels a connection and trusts the man to keep him safe. Mal has been happy with his existence. Meeting Niel has thrown a curve ball in his world but he does what he can for the man.

Trying to stay safe while at the same time trying to get a feel for each other Niel and Mal struggle.

It’s to be expected given the circumstances. I liked the story and the overall feel of it. The danger element was gripping. Mal and Niel’s backstory were gripping.

Although there were a few unanswered questions I still enjoyed the story. Mystery, suspense, danger and romance are in abundance in this book.

Great read.

Review: A cute, sweet story of two men who come together despite the obstacles they face. I loved Ronnie and Officer Andy. Though the reason Andy is there to begin with was heartbreaking. Thugs throwing homophobic slurs is no way to enjoy ones day.

These guys are hot together.

I loved how well the story flowed and seemed endless though it is a short read.

Blurb: College student Ahndrai has the ill fortune of falling into the grasp of an attractive, sadistic vampire. Ahndrai believes that every creature is as cruel and unforgiving as Eita. Then Nakiirn, a dragon prince, rescues Ahndrai. Review: Ahndrai wishes he had never met sadistic vampire Eita. The vampire broke into his home and basically took over his life. Using him in any means he sees fit.

I hated Eita with a passion. I wanted to kill him myself for the despicable things he did and allowed others to do to Ahndrai. It was no wonder why he was so terrified when Nakiirn, a dragon prince, takes him from the vampire. He assumed all paranormals were sadistic after what he suffered.

But Nakiirn is patient and loving with Ahndrai. Explaining things as best as he can while at the same time trying to protect Ahnadrai from Eita evil clutches. This book was well written and takes the reader down the dark side of paranormals while at the same time showing that just like with humans there are both good and evil in the paranormal world as well.

I loved how the story had both aspects of good and evil and were detailed enough that the reader understood what was going on without having to go into horrible details about the rape, as it was mentioned a few times but that was it, beatings and the manner in which the vampire killed Ahndrai over and over only to bring him back to life.

Great, intense, powerful yet sweet. Loved it.

Review: After surviving the harrowing events that took his brothers life Seth Tanner is on a mission to find the man responsible and do away with him once and fr all. His search for the killers next target leads him to Treddy’s bar where he meets cute bartender Sonny.

Sonny has secrets and a stalker ex. It is revealed who Sonny is after a hot encounter between Sonny and Seth. I found the local legends and stories about different haunts to be riveting and gruesome. The killer was gruesome and terrifying given his power and who his master was. The details surrounding events that took place are terrifying.

Seth is determined that history not repeat itself once again. I do not want to give away all the details but needless to say they were amazing. The only thing that bothered me was all the sex scenes as I was constantly being pulled out of the storyline to skip them. Other than that it was a spooky, haunting story that takes hold from beginning to end.

I have to wonder if this was the first book in a series because there was more than one disciple and the killings were ritualistic regarding blood from certain families. Not to mention how the story ends.

I do hope there are more as I would like to see the disciples pay for all the lives they took.
