Blurb: Being different can be dangerous, and discovery can be deadly.

High school freshman James Kerr is finding out he’s not quite like his classmates. Around the time he realizes he’s attracted to his best friend, Paul Schmitz, James starts channeling a dead writer’s poetry and also discovers he has an ability to manipulate energy—a super power. Before James can figure out why this is happening to him, tragedy strikes in the form of Paul’s abusive father, and James is sent to a government-run school, The Paragon Academy, which specializes in juvenile paranormal research. There, he meets Lumen, the daughter of a famous Korean actress. Lumen’s psychic ability might be the key to helping James understand both his poems and his own power.

Review: Interesting story about James who comes into extraordinary powers and struggles to understand what is happening to him. Then he’s sent off to a gifted school to help him in his quest for control where he meets other students like himself.

Meanwhile the boy he has feelings for, his best friend Paul, disappears.

I loved the mystery and the suspense surrounding James as he seeks for the truth. There are many twists and turns as the story progresses. A lot happens that gives the book an X-Men feel to it which I loved.

The answers are sometimes not what James was expecting when they are discovered. This was a complex story with many characters that added depth to the story. Not everything was self explanatory but that added to the story.

Great read.

Review: Each book in the collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Draif had been a slave for most of his life but now thanks to his best friend Leti he is free. He had been fifteen when he was sold to Leti’s father, but Leti did not want him as a bed-slave. Leti had just wanted him as a friend and brother. Now he was completely free. Draif was demisexual and it took him time to fall in love. The one time he had tried it, the man had betrayed him. Now he realizes just what Lucas means to him.

Lucas knew Draif was his lifemate but also knew that he had to give the man time. Now he has seen Draif’s eyes follow him but wasn’t too sure what to expect. Their relationship is heading into the best direction. On top of that they were going to destroy the Queen and Human First group. It is going to be the fight of their lives.

This story runs right along with the fifth book in this series. It is written a bit different that I am used to but it really does work. It is action packed and the excitement is felt throughout the whole book. I love that even though it has a serious tone to it, there is so much humor mixed in. The war that we have waited on has come and damn if it doesn’t rock. I loved the characters and their quirky attitudes.

I hope that there are many more books in this series. They are stories that will be read many times over. I had a blast reading this and can’t wait to read them over.

I loved it and can’t wait for this authors next book.

Review: Cole and Rory were so in love and belonged together like no other. Then Rory disappeared one night after making love. Cole could hardly eat, hardly sleep and hated going to work. Then he accidentally runs into Tommy with his bike and things were changing for him. He just never forgot the man he loved.

Twenty years have past and his love has changed. He married Tommy and their lives were looking good. The problem was his past love was the one he always thought about. Then Rory showed back up.

Rory has been gone for twenty years but to him he was only gone for a night or two. He even still looked like he was in his twenties and his love for Cole was still strong as ever. He just had no clue what happened to him.

When I came across this book I actually figured the author was just going to turn it into a menage a trois story. That however was not the way he took it. I hate to admit that this book was twisted and not in the good way. There were no clues to where Rory had ended up for twenty years and you never get the answer. The book was down right creepy and I hated the ending.

I was glad that **** didn’t end up breaking ****’s heart, but what happened was ****’s heart was the one being broken. However I guess it was the only way that could have ended but I was disappointed in it either way. I would have loved it better if the three of them had gotten together in the end.

To be truthful I hated this story and it is going straight to the never read again list.

Overall the story is quite unique and is a very refreshing type of story. It just wasn’t for me…

Review: Strength of His Heart is book 4 of Victoria Sue’s series, Enhanced.

Before I started this audio, I hadn’t realised that I hadn’t realised it was a series, but a couple chapters in when it finally clicked to me, I was too invested to stop and get to the other three stories. I was able to follow the plot without any problem, although I am sure that I missed some points when it came to some of the background characters, they were well developed and fleshed out by this point in the series, but again, nothing that I couldn’t piece together in my head.

This book is the first book I’ve read/listened to by the author, so I had no idea what to expect in terms of the writing and the depth of the world that had been created. However, I am very familiar with the work of Nick J Russo, the narrator. Normally, I have heard him perform contemporary books and I have found that he is well suited. But this book is best described as an urban fantasy. I was totally blown away by how well he narrated the story and conveyed the complex emotions of the MCs. Both MCs are tough, alpha type of males, however, one is a gentle giant and the other is a scrappy guy.

The series is called Enhanced after a group of people in the world who have been ridiculed and discriminated against because the men (because it’s only men) that are “Enhanced”, known for the scar on their face after transformation, develop powers which the rest of humanity can’t understand. I suppose it’s a kind of parallel to the LGBTQI community. I’m not explaining the enhanced very well, but basically think of Marvel’s X-Men but it’s only men. Some enhanced can mind speak, some have super strength, some have healing – you get the point.

Vance and Sam are partners in a special FBI taskforce. It aims to team up human and enhanced partners in order to show the world that the enhanced aren’t monsters to be scared of.

Sam is ex-DEA (and has a past which is revealed through the story) but soon after partnering with Vance on the FBI team is back helping the DEA for another mission. Sam was good at his job in the DEA but he wanted so much more. He wanted to be in the FBI and didn’t want to be dragged back into the DEA. He has been used of protecting himself and being pushed around by people bigger than him, so when he is teamed up with Vance, despite sexual attraction, Sam isn’t going to let Vance take control.

Vance has always wanted to be a cop – it’s in his family to serve in the Tampa PD, his father is now the lieutenant, one of his brothers is also a cop, while another is also with the FBI. But Vance always wanted to be a cop, a choice that was taken away from him when he woke up as a teen, enhanced and with the scar to prove. While his parents and siblings have always been supportive of Vance, there are many opportunities and people in the world that do not think of him as human because of his abilities. The man has such a big heart and all he wants to do is help people.

Vance is a very sweet man and extremely vulnerable under his tough exterior, while Sam is tough and knows only how to keep up shields to keep himself safe from any kind of affection. There is an attraction between the two men, but with the danger of their ongoing case which involves drugs and added is the mystery of how enhanced have been dragged into the situation, things are often left on hold. As the danger increases the feelings also increase and Sam can’t help but keep putting his foot in his mouth to protect himself. Which, honestly, had me a tad emotional for poor Vance who wears his heart on his sleeve.

I absolutely adored this book. The chemistry between Sam and Vance is on point, their emotions are complex but relatable. The secondary character, some of whom have already had their own book in the series, are equally as deep and complex as Sam and Vance, even the two guys who have been set up to be the next couple of the series. The world that Sue has created is an adventure from start to finish. Now, I need to go back to the start of this series and find out about the other guys!

Review: James and his crew are on a mission for a new piece of technology. James meets Michael wh0 works for Peach and has what he seeks. While obtaining the tech things do not go as planned and the two end up transported away from Peach.

It was a likeable story with a lot of characters, though we do not get an in depth feel for the rest of James’ crew. Michael, being free from Peach finally comes into his own self and learns who he is as a person.

I enjoyed the story and felt the two main characters were great together. James eye and leg are mechanical which I felt helped when he defended Michael from attacks. Overall the story was good but felt it would have better with a little more details about the crew.

Great read.

Blurb: Divine Death had been on a mission since the day he understood the torture others were willing to inflict on him and his kind—to kill them all. As an Amur Leopard shifter, his ability to sneak up on anyone made him one of the best assassins in the world, but it came at cost, the loss of his soul.

Pacey Chapman was someone who liked to hide from…well, everything. Having been hurt in the past by too many people to count, including his own family. As a bunny shifter, he was considered weak—prey—both descriptions fit him far too well, especially when he was afraid of his own shadow.

The moment Divine and Pacey met, their worlds tilted. But how does a hardened assassin and a terrified bunny find a way to coexist? Fortunately, Fate has a plan that allows Pacey to discover being brave isn’t about not being afraid, while Death discovers it’s possible to have the one thing he thought impossible—a soul.

Review: Pacey and several of this siblings were kicked out when they were teenagers just because their parents couldn’t afford to feed them. Pacey was the only one that had no place to go. He has been hurt by not only his family but by many others. So he feared anything and any one. He is a cute bunny shifter that lived through a horrible time and many thought he was prey. So imagine this cute bunny shifter meeting Death.

Death has spent most of his life in a lab being tortured and experimented on. He didn’t feel anything for anyone. He killed because he was good at it. He is also a leopard shifter who is mated to a bunny shifter.

It has been some time since I read the first book for this series and the books from the one that is connected to it. So I was not as in tuned with it as I would have been had I read all the books at once. The characters are pretty cool to read about and their stories will have you in tears. Two different lives living in horrible situations came out of it with two different reactions and this author managed to hit it on the nail. What each went through was different they still manage to heal the other. This world that they live in was pretty unique and I liked hearing about it, in a way. I felt bad for Koda though, but your going to have to read to figure out that statement.

I can honestly say that Pacey will be my favorite in this story. I do admit that I think the story came off a bit rushed especially Pacey’s part. One moment he is so fearful but then he is basically jumping Death. It also felt just a bit jumbled and didn’t flow as well as it should have for me. Other wise it was a great story.

I enjoyed reading it and look forward to reading the next book.

Dealing with the guilt of shooting his commander isn’t nearly as overwhelming as discovering Sawyer is actually alive. What he learns when he finds the man might be more than even he can handle.

Lewis Sawyer loved Stefan more than his next breath, which was the only reason he forced himself to stay away from the man after escaping the mechs. What was done to him could put Stefan’s life in danger. When a nighttime attack forces him to come out of hiding, he has to face his demons, and the love he left behind, but will Stefan see him as the man he was or the monster the mechs made him?

Review: For many years Stefan followed his team and commander. He fought mech’s, saved humans, searched for his commander’s man. However when the man he loved was killed he blamed Roark for it. He was stuck in his grief. That is until Frankie suggested that just maybe Sawyer was still alive. That was after he made the mistake of shooting Roark. Now he was determined to find the man he loved.

Sawyer had been abducted by the mech’s two years ago and for six months they kept him. Then he escaped but hid away from his team. The mech’s had done things to him that he just didn’t think anyone would accept him. Either that or they would experiment on him. Then after a fight with some baddies he knew he had to let Stefan know he was alive. Then wait for the man to kick his ass.

A virus killed millions over ten years ago, a warrior changed, some exciting new twists to the story and lets face it this was a big hit with me. The characters were fun to read about and their stories just made me wish I was there with them. What was truly shocking was that the virus didn’t have anything to do with the aliens but with the government. So two different dangers with pretty much the same ending, death.

The thing that I didn’t much care for was how Sawyer didn’t show much trust with his team nor with the man he loved. It moved maybe a bit to fast for me in parts of the story. However it doesn’t take away from the story to much.

I had a blast reading this and can’t wait to read the next story. I can guarantee that it will be read many times over.

Review: Dima had started not trusting the Alliance many years ago. But when he was forced to watch his older brother’s execution he knew things needed to change. Not only his brother but his brothers team had been executed when they refused to kill. He saw what was happening all around him to those who refused or fought back and he had to find a way to stop it. He was sent with a message to a far away planet to ask for their help. I don’t think he expected it to be met with guns or swords pointed at him.

Vict is the king of all demons. He had lost his mate when he put their daughter to death for her misdeeds. He had his son, son-in-law, a man that was close enough to be his son and another son-in-law as well as his granddemonlings with him. However he wished for more. He was bone tired of the fighting all around him and fought to bring the demons out of their state. He just had not expected that wish to be answered.

With getting to know each other and finding a deep friendship, a relationship is forming. However there is more danger coming and it is going to need more help then what one would expect.

When I first came across this I was not as sure about reading something from an author that was new to me. However the moment I started reading was the moment I realized I had found someone that would be an automatic purchase for me. This story was full of excitement and danger mixed in with action and some hot sexy times. I loved how the king was in the other stories and I was glad that he was going to be mated once more. Dima was a big hit with me. I could feel the pain he felt at loosing his brother and I will admit that I ended up in tears from it. When the one that was meant to protect him, well lets just say there was another round of tears. These two just made the perfect couple in my eyes.

This is a world that I would find amazing and would love to be in. It has so much going on and the people are great. I was glad to see Avanti and their king show up also. I hope that there will be many more stories coming for these guys. Give me more Demons and Avanti, I beg of you.

I had a blast reading this and can guarantee that they will be read many times more.

Review: Beck’s best friend always thought and said that Beck needed a soft and gentle mate for the big guy. He is a sweet young man that turns into a darling animal but he does more than that. He has hidden a big secret from all of his friends and his family. He is making robots that have feelings and thoughts of their own. Rus is his son but he was made to be a warrior, to his father’s surprise, he wants to be a cook. Beck wants at least eight kids but never expected it. Well he might just get a mate that can have them. His poor best friend is going to have a melt down.

Beol is not sweet and gentle, well unless he is around his sexy mate. Now if he could just get him to set down long enough to talk, well without burning the house down. Beol is the head of the most dangerous and prominent assassins guild for the galaxy. His brother and himself were raised by the old leader and lets just say their father was one cold man. Their mother was just as evil. Now he has a mate and damn if things were not looking up.

With the Human Firsts and the queen causing terror in the galaxy they are going to need all the help they can get. They have death and fire on their side, it might just work. They are in for a bigger surprise.

The worlds are turning out pretty sweet. I love what this author has created and their characters just pop out at you. Beck and Beol are just the best couple one can see and their friends rock. They seem to be protective as hell, and lets face it the guys need quite a bit humor with all the kids they keep ending up with. Review: On a world where slavery was normal, a young man had been sold by his parents to pay a debt. He was seventeen and forced into prostitution which left him pregnant and alone. He did not even know who his baby’s father was, but he still loved the peanut. His favorite person was trying to help but died helping another. Her friends came and rescued him, which is how he met the man he will love, a mate.

Alois is a fierce fighter but becomes all mushy when he is around Sebastian. He knows the man is his mate, but also that he needs time to heal. Then something strange happens to Sebastian and lets just say the world is going to get quite interesting.

Sebastian and Alois had met in one of the previous books but now they get to have their own story being told. I love the fact that even though it does have a serious tone to it, it also has so much humor mixed in that makes it pop out to me. The way they are with each other and their friends is amazing, plus even if they are not family they will become family. Fire was just adorable and I can’t wait to see what happens next with him.

Action packed, excitement filled, and some hot sexy times are just a few things you get in this story. I can’t wait to start reading the next book. I can guarantee that it will be read many times over.

Review: Ten years ago out on a date, Frankie had been injected with a virus that had killed million’s of people. He had been turned into a popsicle to keep him alive until a virus had been created. The problem was that had been five years before Frankie had been saved. His parents had placed him as far from the man he loved. So when Roark brought him out he had no clue of the new world or the dangers that existed.

Roark was the commander of his team keeping them alive, saving those in danger, taking out the mechs and looking for the man he loved. He knew he was going to have to explain what was happening but damn if his heart didn’t sing.

There was only one part of the story that I absolutely hated and that was mentioning to a man he loves that he slept with three guys. However I understood the reasoning for him letting him know due to the fact that one of them was at their camp, so it was all good. Plus Frankie punching the guy once was a fine addition. As always the author has created a world that is not only fascinating but kept my attention throughout. I loved the guys and their friends quite a bit. I really liked Frankie’s spunky attitude.

This story was a blast and I can honestly say that it will be read many times over. There is a serious tone to it, but humor was mixed in. It was the perfect story to me and I can’t wait to get started on book two.

Blurb: Welcome back to the mercenary ship, The Blue Solace:

Morgan Murray is an easy, fun-loving guy. He excels at being a soldier, but never wanted more out of life. Somehow, he ends up in a position of authority on Dru’s new ship, the Blue Sparrow. Now he has to deal with what he dreads most. Responsibilities. Dru and her crew are given the task of finding Wyatt Morrick and telling him about his father’s death. Along the way, Morgan soon learns that responsibility can be painful, difficult, and frightening. It can also lead to something very special.

Dr. Wyatt Morrick is in trouble. Big trouble. He and his medical crew are stuck on a planet under attack. He may not be a soldier, but he has patients and friends to worry about. With very few supplies left, something has to give for them to survive. The whole planet’s future is at stake and he is stuck hiding in a cave.

When Morgan saves Wyatt and his friends, the two men are given a gift, each other. Their love can’t stop the Concord, though, and someone has to. Review: Morgan sets out to stop the Concord and save Wyatt. He was pretty sure Wyatt would become someone important to him he just hadn’t known what. They were to save him and also needed to tell him about his fathers death. Wait till Leti tells them the unexpected news about Death and Wyatt’s father. When he finds out that Wyatt is his mate and that he is pregnant well lets just say protective papa comes into view.

Wyatt had slept with an ass, gotten pregnant and now him and his people are stranded on a planet. A planet that was at war, with many good people dead. There is someone that is very powerful and it is up to him to figure out how to kill him. Then a very sexy man saves them and damn if that man isn’t fine.

The Queen has brought her elements out to play and they are causing death and destruction where ever they go. The Charybdis might find that they have a few more friends then they started off with, one or two that might just surprise them.

This story covers quite a bit and spans part of book two as well. It was intriguing and I absolutely loved the characters quite a bit. The story and its previous books are unique and fresh. I wasn’t too sure about them, what with the author being new to me, but the moment I started reading it I just couldn’t put it down. There were a few issues with the story that I noticed but it doesn’t take away from the story itself. Mainly words that didn’t fit or that were not spelled right. It needed a bit more editing to make it a top story for many. For me I absolutely loved it.

I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. I realized that the stories were back to back in their due dates but it didn’t come off as rush like many others did. I had a lot of fun reading it and would definitely recommend it.

Review: Liam is a human trader who favors another trader named Ondry. I admit to being confused by some of their interactions but then again it’s a sci-fi story so I understood to a point. The culture and customs are vastly different from humans.

Ondry cultivates his so called relationship with Liam and takes things slow as he sees a damaged soul. Liam has been abused and does not trust easily. This was a complex yet unique tale that I enjoyed reading.

Good read.

Review: Lexi is going to be one hell of a dad, that is if he ever has him. He has adopted, well sort of, a few more people. Him and Will are doing great and they are surrounded by people that love them. They have rescued a scientist who has a very secret artifact that might be more deadly then they first thought.

They have now moved onto battle with the Concords and it sounds like it is going to be far deadlier than they thought. Sebastian is getting closer to his due date and well if you want to know more your going to have to read this book.

Action packed and delicious men are just a bit of what you get in this story. I have got to tell you that this is the second book by this author I have read, and I can guarantee that she will be read more. The characters are just a blessing and I love Leti. He is super fun to hear about and has a heart of gold. His mate is definitely protective of him. Which is needed because Leti’s parents are starting their crap up again.

This is a book that will be read many times over. I can’t put the stories down at all. In fact I am tempted to start on the next book instead of bed time. They are fun to read and I can’t wait to read them. I would definitely recommend this series. You won’t be able to put them down.

Review: Eric shows how kind he is when he leaves food outside for what he thinks is a stray animal. When he discovers an alien named Keesha hurt and bleeding he takes him home to help care for him. The two form a bond and grow from there.

I liked both characters a lot. Even though they where different they were both sweet. These two were made for each other in every way.

Good read.
