(Colors of Love 01)

V.L. Locey

Mathieu Beresford was so close to seeing his dream come true.

The thirty-eight-year-old captain of the Buffalo Surge had led his team to the final round of the playoffs with his aggressive defensive play and leadership. During the first game of the championship series, he was taken down, and his leg snapped upon impact with the boards. From his hospital bed, Mathieu watched his team go on to win it all.

Adrift in anger, resentment, and the new direction of his life, he returns to his mansion along the St. Lawrence River. Alone and sulking, Mathieu is not prepared for Indigo Neu to enter his life. The genderflux twenty-year-old botany major signs on to play nursemaid, confidant, and groundskeeper over the summer and slowly leads Mathieu out of his confusion––one tender smile and touch at a time.

The deeper Mathieu falls, the more he wonders if being lost might not be so bad after all.

The Stonebridge Mysteries: Book Three

Living together is bliss for Sam Flynn and Nathan Walker, but things never stay quiet for long in Stonebridge. On the night of Sam’s twenty-ninth birthday, the much-hated mayor of Stonebridge is found dead at his home. Sam suspects foul play, but just as he starts investigating the list of possible culprits, Nathan gets word of a new undercover assignment—one that includes a mysterious, sexy new partner. Though Sam struggles to trust Nathan and control his jealousy during Nathan’s absence, the stress makes a return to the bottle seem not only tempting, but inevitable—especially when Nathan starts avoiding his calls.

Yet Nathan’s fidelity isn’t the only thing on Sam’s mind. A visit from the mayor’s ex-assistant puts Sam in the line of fire, and he’s drawn into a complex web of duplicity spanning back to the night of his parents’ accident. Sam’s journey to uncover the truth about what really happened threatens to unravel long-held beliefs about his parents and puts his relationship with Nathan to the ultimate test.

Review: I can’t say no to revisiting Maggie Kavanagh’s characters from the Stonebridge Mysteries series. If you’ve not read Double Indemnity and Inner Sanctum, you need to go back and read them so that you may understand the overall plot points which pick up here in Blind Spot. To be completely honest, if you haven’t been into these guys from the start this book may be a bit tough to get through.

Once again we are back in the lives of Sam, who is well known locally for his crime blog, and Nathan, who is not only Sam’s boyfriend but also an FBI agent. The guys met back in Double Indemnity and are still together. The question of Nathan’s fidelity mentioned in the blurb is important and though not a major part of the plot, this is definitely one of the times where you need to know the background from the previous books.

We meet a couple new characters, including Nathan’s new work partner. But it was good to see Sam at his usual antics, namely not keeping his nose out of police/FBI business and investigating crimes in an effort to not only serendipitously (at times) help Nathan solve the crime, but also get information for his blog. This book starts on the murder of a new character, the mayor, but soon the pieces come together bringing new information and old information and people from the first two books into play.

A note on the ending, and another reason to read the series from the start, I loved how finally we got the full picture on one character in particular. Those pieces have finally fallen into place. You have no idea how glad I am to have that character’s mystery solved, which consequently ties in with another ongoing plot point. But there still seems to be a lot more for Nathan and Sam if Maggie decides. Sam’s brother, Tim, who has been in a vegetative state at a care facility also gets an ending as well. Things are tied up there and I have to admit that I cried. I loved that too.

Once again, this book is great for anyone who’s into crime, thriller and mystery, particularly for those that have read the first two. However, if you love crime and mystery and need a new series I wholeheartedly recommend this one.

Review: Vasal has been hunting for the man who killed his family and broke him for many years. Along with that he has been hiding his feelings for his best friend Mason. Mason is the son of the Alpha. He has always felt like he never belonged. He has always loved his best friend Vasal but has buried his feelings for him.

There were a lot of twists and turns throughout the story that had me on the edge of my seat. Vasal and Mason struggled with their feelings for one another as the story progressed. But when the past comes back full force Vassal will do anything to get back the man he loves.

I loved this story full of interesting situations and intense scenes. I did wonder exactly what happened to Vasal and his family years before as we were given glimpses only. Aside form that it was an amazing story.

Dark, mysterious and tense scenes give the reader a wonderfully written story that keeps the attention well to the end and beyond. I am looking forward to the next addition to the series.

Highly recommended.

Lisa’s Review: ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts

Now I have to admit that I am not a fan of bisexual characters nor with children or female parts. Also every time I read a story where the wife tragically died leaving her husband and children behind just drives me nuts. Also the fact that she was his best friend in highschool doesn’t really connect with me either. It seems to be used quite a bit which for me is a dull moment. I want something unique and I hate to say it that this was not unique. What was unique was he married his wife, when he found her crying over being pregnant with another man’s child.

Abraham was in love with his best friend and the mother of his children. However that all changed when she passed away and left him alone with their five kids. Although the fact that his oldest is a blind teen who is not biologically his child, and as a normal teenager wants his real daddy. That was the only unique part of the whole story. It does show that Abraham is a nice guy. So his hooking up with Dan was not all that new for me. He hangs out with his friends and meets Dix’s brother Dan and of course something happens. However he just could no resist the temptation.

Dan is a military man who has been in for most of his life and is dealing with his memories. Now as many military personal he has PTSD and has trouble dealing with being a civilian at times. Now what caught my attention was the fact that his brother is blind, and Abraham’s oldest son was blind, see the theme going there. The he meets his brothers friend Abraham, and sparks fly. The problem seems to be those five kids that he has. And according to Dan, he doesn’t like kids. Really were going to go there, just seems a bit to cliche again.

Now over all this story was quite good and I did enjoy reading it. I am surprised by the amount of heat these guys have going on, even when they are fighting with each other. I liked the fact that the kids were so active in this book and even though I don’t much care for that aspect of the story it felt good. Now I will be the first to admit that I didn’t read book one so I was missing parts of the story. Which means I will have to go read the first book to check it out. It was a very catchy story that did intrigued me quite a bit. The flow was even paced and made for an enjoyable read.

Pixie’s Review: ♥♥♥♥♥ 4 1/2 Hearts

Dan is recently out of the military, staying with his brother Dix and wondering what he will do with his life now. While celebrating New Year Dan meets Weldon Dix’s neighbor and its instant lust, but Weldon has five children and Dan isn’t ready for that type of commitment. Weldon is looking for permanence from any person he has a relationship with, but there’s something about Dan that he just has to have a taste of, they might only have one night together but it’s a night that neither man will forget.

This is a superb story where love sneaks in and knocks both men for six. Dan is still finding his feet after being in the military for years, he’s finding it difficult to find a job and he suffers from the occasional nightmare from his time in combat. A relationship is something he isn’t looking for but he gets knocked off his feet by Weldon and his family. Weldon has a fantastic family; it’s been over three years since his wife died and he’s now looking for someone to share it with, Dan is honest and caring and Weldon wishes he was ready for more than just hook-ups.

Weldon’s children Jakob, Emma, Madison, MacKenzie & Caleb are little stars of this story; they are absolute holy terrors/cherubs and make you grin. While Weldon and Dan are dancing round the relationship dilemma and Dan accepts that he might want more than just a fling with Weldon the kids are all in the background and have an impact on Dan that he never thought would happen… they wormed their way into his heart.

The story is very easy going for the most part, Dan and Weldon fall into a relationship after Dan sorts himself out, but danger lurks when Jakob keeps secrets. This story isn’t just about Dan and Weldon, it’s about building a new family, dealing with settling into a new way of life and helping children deal with growing up.

I loved how this story was written, there is angst but it isn’t really coming from the adults (except parenting angst, there’s plenty of that!), we see how Dan and Weldon deal with their relationship (really easy going), we see the children dealing with a new man in their dad’s life, we see the normal sibling teasing & secrets and how it affects them and we see a strong family being built before our eyes.

I recommend this to those who love fantastic characters, who adore rambunctious children, who love a dash of tension and angst, and love characters who become exceptional when they love the right man.

Blurb: Deep undercover to investigate rumors of embezzlement at one of his family’s companies, Jayce Roman finds himself magnetically attracted to his number-one suspect.

Lonely omega Wren Smith is a single father struggling to provide a good life for his hard-of-hearing daughter in an alpha’s world. When his mate Travis Mueller was killed in a tragic accident, the wealthy Mueller family refused to acknowledge Wren or Harriet, perceiving them both as a threat to their “perfect” son’s legacy. Wren is proud of the life he’s built on his own since Travis left them with nothing, and he’s grateful to have a job at a company that’s willing to employ a single-parent omega, even if it means covering for his smarmy boss. But when a young alpha named Jack Coheed shows up amid rumors of a company audit, Wren finds himself at the center of a high-stakes investigation — and the dashing alpha’s attention.

With a newly minted Econ degree and a desire to prove himself to his family, Jayce Roman is finally ready to get serious. He wants more out of life than an endless string of modelesque lovers and meaningless flings, and Wren Smith is more in every way. The husky omega is clever and responsible, and seemingly oblivious to the nerdy charm that has Jayce smitten at first sight. Unfortunately for him, Wren isn’t at all interested in being swept off his feet by a much younger alpha and all signs point to the omega being at the center of the very corruption Jayce was sent to investigate.

When Jayce’s secret identity and Wren’s secrets collide, Jayce will have to prove he can step up and be not only a mate to Wren but a father to his daughter as well. The omega’s dream of a happily ever after might have been shattered, but this alpha is determined to fit the pieces back together.

This romance features a husky omega and contains mature subject material that follows MPREG tropes and may have a rough road leading up to the inevitable happily-ever-after. Adult audiences only.

Review: Jayce goes undercover at Eracorp to figure out who is embezzling money. While there he meets his mate, Wren. Unfortunately things are looking like Wren is the suspect until Jayce discovers the real culprit has been using Wren and plans on framing him.

Blackmail, action, suspense and drama surround this thrilling story as Wren and Jayce grow closer and the culprit tightens the strings on them both. I loved this story from start to finish. The details of Wren’s past are painful. I felt for all Wren had been through.

Great read.

Reviewer: Lisa

Review: Alejandro worked for Stonewall Investigations, in fact it was Zane that brought him on. He was good at his job so when Griffin showed up, he knew he would get to the bottom of it. He just hadn’t expected to like him so much.

Griffin had been diagnosed as bi-polar at the age of fourteen. After his mom’s death, he took to drinking pretty heavy, and even lost contact with his father. Here he was on med’s and drinking, not a good combination. Which is how he ended up on the couch with a dead body on the floor. His roommate was murdered and he had no clue. He needed help in more ways then one.

Well the focus was more on Griffin’s problems but the romance was also there. There was a bit mentioned about the serial killer again, but didn’t focus on it as much. This one was more love and sexy time then action packed. It was better than the first one, but still a little on the dull side. It does flow at a slower pace then one would expected but it was still told pretty good.

I did enjoy it, but my attention was not captured throughout the story like it should have. I can honestly say that this will not be one of those stories read more than once or twice. I liked Alejandro more than I liked Griffin and connected with him. Griffin just came off strange, but for some reason it made him feel more real to me. The story might not be what I would like, but it does feel like people you know and hang with.

Overall it is a very good story, well told, and something I would recommend.

Blurb: College student Ahndrai has the ill fortune of falling into the grasp of an attractive, sadistic vampire. He encounters Eita, a vampire who lusts for Ahndrai’s sweet blood and tears apart his world. Eita proves that every myth and legend ever written is only too real, and they are far darker than portrayed in any story.

Ahndrai must face a host of monsters that Eita allows to attack and kill him. Each time Ahndrai dies, Eita revives him so he can continue to feed off him. Ahndrai believes that every creature is as cruel and unforgiving as Eita. Then Nakiirn, a dragon prince, rescues Ahndrai. But even after Ahndrai overcomes his fears and falls in love with Nakiirn, they must both contend with Eita’s cruelty again before the vampire succeeds in claiming Ahndrai once more.

Review: Ahndrai wishes he had never met sadistic vampire Eita. The vampire broke into his home and basically took over his life. Using him in any means he sees fit.

I hated Eita with a passion. I wanted to kill him myself for the despicable things he did and allowed others to do to Ahndrai. It was no wonder why he was so terrified when Nakiirn, a dragon prince, takes him from the vampire. He assumed all paranormals were sadistic after what he suffered.

But Nakiirn is patient and loving with Ahndrai. Explaining things as best as he can while at the same time trying to protect Ahnadrai from Eita evil clutches. This book was well written and takes the reader down the dark side of paranormals while at the same time showing that just like with humans there are both good and evil in the paranormal world as well.

I loved how the story had both aspects of good and evil and were detailed enough that the reader understood what was going on without having to go into horrible details about the rape, as it was mentioned a few times but that was it, beatings and the manner in which the vampire killed Ahndrai over and over only to bring him back to life.

Great, intense, powerful yet sweet. Loved it.

Review: Each book in the Cloverleah Pack collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Thomas is an amazing shifter who is still reeling over what had happened to Wesley. He felt guilt over not keeping an eye on the shifter, a guilt that was not his to feel. Wesley had been basically taken over by the dark elves, or so they think. When a strange shifter pops through the wards he realizes the young man is his mate, but the betrayal they still felt made the others worried over Ivan. Was he good or was he evil?

Ivan is a very special and very rare shifter. He will only shift after mating his mate not before then. However he is holding onto a very special secret of his own, he is not the only one of his kind. Lets just say Luke is going to be so very happy.

Exciting, fascinating, dangerous, and some sexy times are just a bit of what you get in this book. The characters are a blast and I absolutely loved Ivan. It would seem Ivan has a way that just might stop the dark elves, but it will take the whole group and more. This story is one of those books that will be read more than once. It caught my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end.

I had a blast reading this and can’t wait to get my hands on the next story. This is one book I would definitely recommend reading. It will have you on the edge of your seat.

Love’s Magic

(Revolutionary Heart 01)
by

Janice Jarrell

If you love gay romance that contains both heated passion and steadfast love, Love’s Magic is for you!

Professor Nate Reese rushes to protect a female student and is severely injured at the hands of her assailant. Traumatized by the attack, Nate sets his feet on a no-holds-barred path of activism designed to force university officials into addressing the issue of on-campus assault. At the same time, terrified of losing his hard-won status at the university, his partner, David Gardener, a veteran of 12 years as a very popular Professor, is reluctant to support Nate’s militant efforts. Seemingly abandoned by his partner, Nate sees David’s aversion to his activism as indifference to the trauma he suffered. Day by day they watch as their relationship disintegrates, while still struggling to resolve the disruptive issues engulfing the school they love.

In the meantime, Irishman Colin Campbell, handsome and charismatic Sergeant for the campus police force, fights his own on-going war against campus assault. But behind his obsessive desire to gain justice for victims lies a devastating secret which could forever destroy his fiercely independent facade and expose his deepest fear. Ultimately, it is Colin’s powerful connection to a steady, dark-eyed Title IX consultant which threatens to tear down his defenses and shatter the barriers protecting his heart.

Cocky and irresistible, the dynamic police officer was everything Joshua Abrams had ever longed for in a man, but Colin simply didn’t ‘do’ relationships. Unless Joshua would settle for a one night stand, or a very short-term liaison, there was no room for him in Colin’s life. Yet even knowing this, he couldn’t keep himself from falling hopelessly in love with his ‘magic man’. Despite the passion between them, he knew his quiet, reclusive nature could never hope to entice the vibrant, freedom-loving Irishman, so eventually he begins to back slowly away.

Eventually, a disagreement over an oddly disturbing case causes Colin’s hot Irish temper to erupt and their relationship is irrevocably shattered. Heartbroken, and convinced that Colin is gone forever, Joshua flees Charlottesville without a word, leaving Colin adrift and inconsolable.

But Joshua Abrams hadn’t merely stepped over the indelible line Colin had drawn between his heart and the dangers of real love, he had burned through it like hot lava. Finally forced to acknowledge his love for Joshua and his desperate need to have the quiet, Jewish man by his side, Colin must now face the dark and long-suppressed memories which are irrevocably linked to his love for the handsome consultant. Without even a forwarding address to guide him, he vows to find Joshua and bring him home. Colin’s struggle to conquer his pride and fear in order to find the love of his life and achieve their happily ever after will touch your heart.

Four lives in turmoil fighting for the relationships they cherish, and at the heart of the struggle, a great university struggles to survive its most harrowing challenge.

Can Jason find the courage he needs to be the man Seb deserves?

When Seb Radcliffe relocates to a seaside town in Cornwall, he feels like a fish out of water. He misses queer spaces and the sense of community he enjoyed when he was living in the city, and decides to open an LGBT-friendly cafe–bar.

Jason Dunn is the builder Seb hires to help renovate the rundown space where the cafe will be housed. Jason is also gay, but unlike Seb, he’s deep in the closet. He’s never had a relationship with another man—only allowing himself the occasional hook up with guys who are prepared to be discreet.

The attraction between the two men is instant and impossible to ignore. But while Seb is out and proud, Jason is terrified of being exposed. With the grand opening of Rainbow Place approaching, tension is growing among some locals who object to Seb’s plans. When things escalate, Jason is forced to choose whether to hide in the shadows and let Seb down, or to openly support the man he’s fallen so hard for.

Review: I was unsure about this book but took a chance on it anyway and boy am I glad I did. So much happens in this story that left my head spinning but I understood why. It’s a setup for the rest of the series. The different characters introduced throughout had to have ample amount of time for the reader to get a grasp on what is going on and the role each character will play as the story continues.

I loved Liam’s character. He had been through so much and yet has even more to go through. All the secondary characters took my breath away with the roles they played and how things came about. I don’t want to give too much away but this was truly a fascinating story.

Twists and turns that leave your head spinning and you thinking what else is going to happen.

Though I understood why Patrick did what he did at the beginning I also knew Liam would be pissed when the truth came. Who wouldn’t be. I thought Patrick’s ability was interesting.

I loved how all the characters are somewhat connected to events and people that took place many, many years before. It’s almost as if it was destiny that all these people met in this lifetime. A truly wonderfully written story with plenty of details, action and some romance.

I am looking forward to reading the next installment to see what else happens.

Highly recommended.

Review: Jacqui is one big ass cat shifter although he has no clue what he truly is or how he became what he is. To top it off his cat had a mind of his own and he was usually found talking to himself or arguing. He was a designer of neutral gender clothes and was pretty good at it. He was falling in love with a certain deputy but was afraid to take it further. He has someone trying to get to him and he didn’t trust to many people. He wasn’t even sure if he should tell Wyatt about his other half or not. He doesn’t need to find trouble because trouble finds him, in this case a pretty beat up dog. Leave it up to him to find answers and get into trouble.

This was quite a bit better then the first two, but it still leaves you hanging at the end. It is a very unique tale with quite a bit going on to keep you entertained. The only issue is that it is a very slow moving tale. It also feels like it was rushed and I think that it would have been better had it not been cut in to seperate stories.

Other than those issues it is a very cute little story. I enjoyed it more than I did the first two stories.

At first when I started reading this series I wasn’t to sure if I wanted to waste my time on it, but it is looking up.

The last thing Tennyson’s father said before the teenager boarded a Greyhound bus to Boston was that his son was dead to him. Flash forward thirteen years later, Tennyson couldn’t have been more surprised when he woke to find the newly dead spirit of his father sitting on the end of his bed. David Grimm had one request of his estranged son. Go to Kansas and reunite with his mother.

Cold Case Detective, Ronan O’Mara, was all for this family reunion. Review: Having to rehash old hurts done to him by his family leaves Ten on edge but he has to go to bury his father after his ghost visits him. Having to deal with his mothers bigoted ways takes a toll on Ten but with his friends and Ronan their to shelter him they teach his om that maybe she should change her ways. While this part is interesting I loved the mystery better.

While there Ten and Ronan are asked to look into a case. The details of the mystery are intense as the story progresses and we are given a glimpses of who the suspect is throughout. I loved how well the team works together to bring the suspect to light as they find clues that point in the right direction for the sheriff.

All in all it was a great read with an edge of your seat feel to it.

Great read.

Review: Each book in the Devil Hills Wolves collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Theo and his brother were captured by a human group that are out to either kill or rehabilitate non-humans. They are a very cruel and evil group that should not even call themselves humans. They hunt, kill, experiment or brainwash the paranormals. He was tortured dailey and drugged most of the time. Then the squad killed his brother and from that point Theo just wanted to die. To bad the squad had other ideas.

Joe is a powerful wolf shifter who protected his world. When he came across Theo he knew the man was his mate. He also knew that his mate was in deep trouble and so was the pack. Theo was sent to kill.

This is not one of those fun loving, sweet type of romance. It has a serious tone to it with a darkness flowing through it. It is well written with sexy ass characters that will protect those they love. However they also tend to kill those who show up, but they do protect their mates. It is an action packed, danger filled type of story but there is some hot sexy times as well.

I don’t really care for the dark tones to the story and can honestly say that I don’t normally read these books more than once. It is a very good story but come off just a bit harsh to me. However I would recommend it to those who like these types of stories.

Review: This continues from book one. Kristopher and Michel are on the run yet again. When they stop to help civilian after a bombing they are separated. From here there are two separate journeys so to speak.

We see how Michel is with the resistance and helping them with a fellow member before it’s too late. While at the same time Kristopher is trying to survive his own dilemma. There were many variables and characters interacting throughout this intense story.

I really felt for Kristopher and Michel as neither knew if the other was even still alive. Still they journeyed hoping against hope to one day be reunited. The Gestapo did not let up in their pursuits for a second. it lead to some raising moments throughout.

Well written and tense at times, this story grabs hold and does not let go until the last word.

Great read.

Review: Zane lost his husband to a serial killer named the Unicorn. A man bent on killing young gay men. It had been rumored that he had been killed, but now with the latest murder well you can guess. Zane worked for an Investigation company that helped the LGBTQ community and those who walked in the door. They never really turned anyone down. Which explains a high priced lawyer in his office asking for his help.

Lorenzo is a sexy ass defense attorney that would drive any one insane. He comes off to many as one would think a defense attorney would. However to Zane he is a very sweet man, although at first Zane the same as others. Someone murdered two young adults but a young gay man was blamed. The killer will be a surprise to all.

I never suspected the one behind it. Now the mention of the serial killer is here and there, just a few words about him and what he is up to, so there is no real heat in that. Although with Zane loosing his husband to the creep, I can see why he is a focus, but for the story not so much. It is a very well told mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat and biting your nails. The romance is slow building and very sweet. The guys are perfect together.

Action packed, danger filled and some hot sexy times are just a few things you get in this book. Now the bad news is, it is more focused on the romance, and the mystery is to the side. I was actually wanting the opposite, a good mystery with a little romance. Other than that it is a great first book in the series and I found myself liking it. It didn’t keep my attention like it should have but came pretty damn close.

We will see how book two goes but so far I am liking the story quite a bit.

Lasius, second hand of his former alpha, is pissed. A vampire? Really? The world saddled him with a vampire for a mate. Worse, this isn’t some innocent vampire, he’s as evil and blood sucking as they come, and Warren is lucky Lasius didn’t kill him on sight.

But is Warren really so evil? Warren’s seemed to be stubbornly hiding something since the moment Lasius found him, and as much as Lasius doesn’t want to acknowledge the mating pull between them, he won’t allow anyone in his clan to harm his mate either.

A sudden pregnancy and discovering his little assassin might be related to someone in the clan could change up everything for the better or the worse.

Review: I felt disconnected with Lasius in this story. I understood he was angry at who his mate was but felt the way he treated him was despicable and showed he did not care in the least.

Warren on the other hand seemed so lost at times. Though his secret was certainly not expected it made the story more enjoyable to me.

Mystery and a lot of drama are in abundance but well worth the read. Good addition to the series.

John Lennon fought for world peace, but sixteen-year-old hippie hopeful Kale Oswald’s only made it as far as tie-dying his T-shirts with organic grape juice. Now he’s ready to cement his new hippie identity by joining a local human rights organization, but he doesn’t fit in as well as he’d hoped.

After landing himself in the hospital by washing down a Ziploc bag of pills with a bottle of Gatorade, Julian Mendez came clean to his mother: he is a girl stuck in a boy’s body. Puberty blockers have stopped the maturing of the body he feels has betrayed him. They’re also supposed to give him time to be sure he wants to make a more permanent decision, but he’s already Julia in his heart. What he’s not sure he’s ready to face is the post-transition name-calling and bathroom wars awaiting him at school.

When Kale and Julian come face-to-face at the human rights organization, attraction, teenage awkwardness, and reluctant empathy collide. They are forced to examine who they are and who they want to become. But until Kale can come to terms with his confusion about his own sexuality and Julian can be honest with Kale, they cannot move forward in friendship, or anything more.
