With nothing tying him to LA, he packs up and moves back to his hometown of Land’s End. He takes up residence in a beach house and attempts to shake the depression he’s fallen into after his life collapsed. There’s just one tiny problem: the ghost haunting his kitchen.

Myles Taylor wasn’t always trapped in the Between. One minute, he was about to propose to his boyfriend of five years as they sat out on their surfboards, and the next, he woke up on the beach to find his long-dead uncle walking toward him. After his shock fades, he must learn to navigate his new reality as he searches for a way to move into the Great Beyond. But first he must deal with the man who’s invaded his territory.

With Myles tied to the beach house and Casey unwilling to leave it, the two must learn to cohabitate as the lines separating them begin to blur. They grow closer than either expected, but what will become of them once Myles finally escapes the Between?

My Name Was Karl

It was a forgotten place. A place with a dark history. Thousands of men had passed through its doors during the first three quarters of the twentieth century. Most had served their time and moved on. But not all had been so fortunate.

As the years ticked by and the seasons changed, the old prison moldered away, but one thing stayed constant.

In the deepest part of the night, on the darkest nights of the year—particularly in spring, if you were sensitive enough to hear them—sounds could be heard coming from the deepest bowels of the lowest level basement. All was not right. Something was waiting, alone in the darkness.

Waiting for someone to finally hear its sorrow.

When Petty Officer Ben Pierce decided to explore the long abandoned Naval Prison next to his decrepit barracks, the last thing he expected to find was a mystery.

Something is in the Prison. Or is it some one? Where is the weeping coming from? When Ben follows the sounds to an ice cold, but empty, cell, he isn’t sticking around to find out any more details.

But now he can’t get it out of his mind.

Review: Everett is a witch and something more that he learns about. He’s also a bridge master able to create a bridge between two worlds. He has a crush on Bryce from the dojo. When the two boys grow closer Everett suspects that Bryce is more than human. Going against his grandfather’s wishes Everett sets out to discover the truth about Bryce.

Along the way he puts himself in dangerous situations. I really liked Everett’s determination to find the truth about everything. Though I felt he should have used caution during certain circumstances throughout the story.

It was a really good story with magic, romance, supernatural creatures, mystery and suspense. I could not stop reading one I started as I wanted answers as well. Well written and interesting.

Great read.

Review: I have never been a fan of the creepy crawlie’s, spooks, horror or just plain down scary stories.  However I have read a few stories by this author, and somehow the way they are written just captures you and drags you into its world whether you want to or not.  So when I saw this particular book, I jumped and took a chance.  And damn what a chance it was.

Daniel was in his last year of college, just twenty-three when his parents were killed out sailing.  A trip that he was supposed to take with them, if he hadn’t thrown a temper tantrum and went with his friends instead.  He didn’t think he had anyone left, that is until his Aunt Carol called asking him to come home.  Hell he didn’t even know he had an Aunt Carol but things just couldn’t get any worse could they.  Never ask that question if you want a true answer.

Hale is the Sheriff and also helps Carol out with her horses.  He came across Daniel when Daniel had stopped his truck in a storm. He started to like what he saw.  However there was some hidden and dark secrets at the manor.   Wolves that spooked them all, hauntings that were physical scared out of their mind terror for the family.  However Hale and Daniel are determined to get to the end of it.

I have got to say that I hope to find more of this type of story in the m/m sub-genre because it was unique and fascinating.  You come across vampires, werewolves, witches and so forth, but not many good ghost stories.  Danny has inherited the whole thing.  Strange things are happening and falling in love on top of it all.  I think the manor is a top hit for me and what a story this author has given.  I wasn’t really a fan of the multiple points of view but with this story it rocked perfectly.  Although it was just a bit hard to get used to.

Overall this story was very entertaining and I had a blast reading it.  I definitely can’t wait for another story from this author.  I loved the characters and those wolves were a big surprise.  I had a lot of fun with this and would definitely recommend it.

Ghost In the Mirror

(Samuel Dexter 01)
by

Faith Gibson

What do you do when you have no memories of your life except the one moment that took everything away?

My name is Dex and I’m a Marine. Somewhere in the horrors of the sand overseas, an explosion took out not only most of my unit but also my memories of everything that happened before that day. When my memories don’t return, the explosion also ends my career in the military. That one moment costs me everything.

Starting from scratch sucks. I don’t even know what foods I like or what types of music I listen to. Am I a boxer or briefs man? Do I like women or men? I also have to figure out what I’m going to do with my life from this point on.

While adjusting to my new life, I start seeing things — things that no one else can see. I think that maybe my head injury caused more than amnesia. When one of my “visions” won’t leave me alone, I have no choice but to believe in ghosts.

Along with the ghosts during the day, at night I dream vividly of two men. But are these two men merely dreams, or are they memories? When one man steps through the door of my hospital room, I have the answer. This man literally tries to lead me down memory lane, culminating in a searing kiss. Too bad my brain isn’t cooperating, because this man is breathtaking.

With the help of my sassy grandmother, I begin to rebuild my life.

I am Samuel Dexter, and these are my stories.

WARNING: This book contains scenes that might be considered triggers for some. Sam is a Marine involved in an explosion. This book also (mildly) describes children being kidnapped in the past and their remains found later.

Having nowhere else to go, he checks into the Raven’s Rest Inn and soon learns that the haunted reputation of the hotel is well deserved. Michael gets a job at a local café, where he meets Trey Ramsey. Review: After five years Michael has left his psychologically abusive lover and is hiding out in a small town. Staying at the local Inn, Raven’s Rest, he’s told the story of its ghosts and becomes fascinated by one of them especially when he sees the ghost of that past resident, Coleman, a young man who disappeared many years before. Michael decides to stay in town and stumbles across a job in a small café as well as Trey, a laid back guy who sparks Michael’s interest.

Michael and Trey begin to look into Coleman’s story after an altercation with the ghost and they discover a sad story of young love torn apart and destroyed. While getting to the bottom of the mystery of the ghost Michael still has to deal with his ex when Kevin comes hunting for him.

This is brilliant story where a man running from his ex-lover stumbles across a ghost story that leads to a decades old mystery. Michael has suffered from mental abuse from the man who was supposed to love him for years, Michael’s finally found the courage to leave him but he knows Kevin will follow him so he heads for a small town. It’s the beginning of a ghostly adventure of mystery and murder, and discovering new love.

I really enjoyed this story, it flowed really well and Michael and Trey connected from the instant they met, their romance moves quickly but fits them perfectly. The mystery part of the story was excellent, with Michael determined to get to the truth and discover just what happened to Coleman. It’s a terrible tale of bigotry and murder.

Both Michael and Trey are excellent characters and there are also one or two other jewels floating through the story like Jesenia (who wears a badge labelled ‘The Town Witch’) and Gloria Ramsey (Trey’s mother), they both add to the story and bring some lightness to the story as well. I also liked the fact that Michael got some closure with Kevin as well, there is a confrontation where Kevin loses it but he does finally accept that his actions drove Michael away and hopefully he’ll learn a lesson from losing Michael.

I recommend this to those who love ghost mysteries, finding peace with yourself, discovering new love, dodging danger and an excellent ending.

Blurb: When lonely artist Siôn Ruston retreats to the seaside village of Rosewick Bay, Yorkshire, to recover from a suicide attempt, he doesn’t expect to encounter any ghosts, let alone the one who appears in his bedroom every morning at dawn. He also doesn’t expect to meet his ghost’s gorgeous, flirty descendant working at the local museum… and the village pub, and as a lifeboat volunteer. But Mattie’s great-great-grandfather isn’t the only specter in Rosewick Bay, and as Siôn and Mattie investigate an ill-fated love affair from a bygone era, they begin a romance of their own, one that will hopefully escape the tragedy Mattie’s ancestor suffered.

But the ghosts aren’t the only ones with secrets, and the things Siôn and Mattie are keeping from each other threaten to tear them apart. And all the while, the dead are biding their time, because the curse of Rosewick Bay has never been broken. If the ghosts are seen on the streets, local tradition foretells a man will drown before the summer’s end.

Review: Sion retreats to Rosewick bay after a suicide attempt. He meets charming and lively Mattie who resembles the apparition that appears in Sion’s room. They begin a relationship which is not without its hardships.

There is a mystery that parallel this couples existence. Joshua and Mathew were a couple once with hopes and dreams like anyone else. Joshua’s ghost continually appears to Mattie as a warning or a threat is the question.

Whispers of ghosts, tragic loss and affairs gone wrong surround Mattie Sion. The mystery of the ghosts and what they want is a vital part of the story and it left me feeling sad for all involved. Like most ghost stories things are never black and white.

Two men who have secrets of their own learn to deal with past mistakes and move forward while at the same time hoping for a happy ever after. I loved this book even though at times it had a creepy feel to it which was to be expected. I loved the interactions between the ghosts and the living as it added an element of mystery.

The back stories of the ghosts was an added bonus as I liked knowing what happened to these men. All in all it was a fantastic read with drama, suspense and mystery.

Fanule Perfidor, leader of the mongrels, sees a shining star, Will Marchman, in his otherwise chaotic life. Famile is on a mission to uncover the secret as to why the mongrels are being incarcerated and persecuted. With Will and his best friend Clancy, vampire, and Simon’s, hunter, help discover why Mongrels are disappearing. Fantastic cast of characters, action, suspense and mystery made for an incredible read.

Merman: Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 Hearts

Clancy returns to find out what his ex-lover Simon is up to and discovers a merman, Jordan Hawkes is a man he used to feed, washed up on the shore. He also discovers Simon has been commissioned to build a submersible. There is also a mystery as to the suspicious treatment of prisoners. This is another wonderful story with characters that add depth to the book, as well as the interactions between Simon and Clancy. I loved the mystery aspect and finding out what was going on.

Machine: Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 Hearts

This book is the conclusion of the mongrel series and ties everything up. Both couples are back, William and Fan start arguing and eventually they split up. A mysterious stranger from fan’s past shows up and chaos ensues. This mysterious stranger has a machine that can alter beings and humans alike. Will and Clancy are kidnapped then returned less than what they were. Although both couples suffer greatly they eventually find their HEA. I felt the villain’s so-called takedown was a bit of a let-down considering all the lives he disrupted or destroyed. I expected a big showdown between Fan and him but got none. Other than that I loved the story as it revealed more about Fan’s background.

Overall the series was an amazing adventure of two couples. They struggle to make a go of their relationships and find their HEA. At the same time they access and confront threats to them and the town along the way. Great descriptions and plot made for an interesting read. I loved it.

Blurb: Architect Elliot Graham has bought and restored dozens of historic homes to their original splendor. As in his personal life, he loves them and leaves them, selling them off without looking back. But there’s something about the old plantation house he finds in South Carolina—a connection he can’t explain. He feels as though he recognizes the house, as if within its crumbling walls he might find something he doesn’t even realize he’s lost.

Ben Myers had promised his lover and soul mate, Patrick, that he would wait for his return. Ben has kept his word ever since Patrick left him to wait at the plantation house—during the Civil War. For the first time in many long years, Ben is no longer alone, and he reaches out to Elliot in dreams. Elliot tries to convince Ben that Patrick isn’t coming back, and Ben’s devotion is about to change not only his lonely existence, but Elliot’s life as well.

Purchase Link: https://www.dreamspinnerpress.com/books/waiting-for-patrick-by-brynn-stein-7518-b

Review: Elliot has a great life as an architect buying homes, restoring them and selling them, moving from place to place and enjoying one night stands and short flings, but when he buys an old plantation house in South Carolina he finds himself drawn to the house and the spirit that lurks there. Ben swore to his lover, Patrick, that he would wait for him and Ben has waited a long, long time for Patrick to return to him, now there’s a man who calls to him and Ben shares with Elliot in his dreams.

This is an amazing story that is slightly bittersweet. Elliot has never been able to settle, almost like he is constantly searching for something on a subconscious level, so when he finds an old house that strikes a chord with him he begins to think about settling down. Discovering the house is haunted doesn’t actual phase him all that much because he has a connection to the ghost Ben through his dreams, his best friend Sheri (or Cher as Elliot calls her) and his new friend Daniel (Darrell as Elliot calls him) both have some good freak out moments about it though.

We discover, through Elliot’s dreams, Ben’s life with Patrick, the love they shared and the lives they lived; it’s bittersweet and heart-aching when you see the scenes of them going to fight in the civil war. We see a lot of Elliot’s life and his friendships with Sheri and Daniel, Elliot’s relationship with Daniel starts hot and heavy but quickly turns to that of just friends (jealous ghost!), we watch as Elliot starts to suffer from devastating health and it’s just so painful to watch.

The story really is wonderful as we see Elliot fall in love with his ghost Ben, but it’s also painful to watch because Ben knows something that Elliot doesn’t so Elliot is both trying to get Ben to cross over but also trying to find some way of keeping him around. I can’t really say much more otherwise I’d give everything away so there you have it!

The story is beautifully written and it flows wonderfully, each character shines in their own way but it is all from Elliot’s point of view and Ben’s really only around when he’s typing messages, moving the odd object and in Elliot’s dreams. And the ending! OMG grab tissues… you will need them!

I recommend this to those who love soul mates, love stretching through the years even past death, great characters, hot sex, and an incredible ending that will leave tear trails down your face.

Angus Macgregor has endured a lot in life. Mother passing when he was a small child, he also nursed an ill father to his last breath. But when he loses his one remaining relative, an uncle he’s never met, his existence is turned on its head forever. Bequeathed Clan Gregor Castle in the Scottish Highlands, Angus leaves Australia behind to take on the family business. It’s there he finds more waiting for him than he ever dreamed possible.

Daniel Ramsey is a man with secrets, none more dangerous than the fact that he can see what others can’t. When he meets one particularly handsome Australian, the attraction is immediate. Hesitant to let down his guard, his hand is forced when a former guest of the castle comes calling and attempts to stake a claim on the very man Daniel wants.

When lonely artist Siôn Ruston retreats to the seaside village of Rosewick Bay, Yorkshire, to recover from a suicide attempt, he doesn’t expect to encounter any ghosts, let alone the one who appears in his bedroom every morning at dawn.
